Respectful Maternity Care - Health Equity Systems evaluation

The Science Matters.

Evaluation Summary: Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) – Health Equity Systems

The Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) – Health Equity Systems simulation has demonstrated a 99.2% efficacy rating, based on comprehensive pre- and post-participant survey data. The evaluation utilized a Likert scale to quantitatively assess participants' experiences and learning outcomes throughout the simulation.

Participants completed three structured evaluation instruments:

  1. Pre-Survey
This instrument assessed participants' baseline awareness and knowledge of the Black maternal mortality crisis. It also explored their understanding of implicit and explicit bias, as well as prior experiences in academic or clinical settings.

  2. Post-Simulation Knowledge & Intent Survey
Administered after the simulation, this instrument measured changes in participants' understanding of potential biases highlighted in the case scenarios. It also captured participants’ intent to change current practices or apply new skills acquired through the RMC experience.

  3. Qualitative Feedback Tool
The final instrument gathered open-ended responses to assess the perceived impact of the simulation. Participants reflected on how the experience influenced their perspectives, attitudes, and approach to respectful maternity care.

Additional evaluation data—including testimonials and video reflections—will be available soon to further illustrate the impact of the RMC simulation experience.
