The RMC exploration and simulator was developed for healthcare providers (hospitals, clinics, FQHCs, community health centers); students (medical, nursing, public health, social work); families and women of the birthing age.
The RMC simulated experience is offered in person. We are able to design an abbreviated exploration for online maternal health programs. However, the impact of the "in person" simulation is the most effective experience.
The Respectful Maternity Care explorations are offered in 1.0 - 2.5 hours sessions. The Respectful Maternity Care simulation is 6 hours in duration. All experiences require an orientation for participants to be fully prepared for the simulated encounter. A debriefing period is also required to provide the learner with an opportunity to reflect and gain insight on the challenges presented with the patient and provider interaction. The debriefing period also identifies individuals who may have experienced challenges due to the sensitive nature of the real case scenarios.
The exploration and simulator require a minimum of 12 participants and a maximum of 30 participants per simulated experience.
The simulator has a 99.2% efficacy rating based on pre and post participant surveys. The Likert scale was used to quantify aspects of the simulation experience. Qualitative data captured the impact of the experience. (Please see the Evaluation section of this site.)
Currently we offer the exploration and simulator upon the request of the host institution (medical schools, government agencies, hospitals, and health centers). Some requests are quarterly and others are bi-annual. We can design the experience to accommodate your institution's health equity and training goals.
The simulator has a physical home in two states (NC and GA) and is offered at the discretion of the scheduling institution.
The simulator is also mobile and can be offered anywhere in the United States. The RMC logistics team evaluates all requests and works with each institution to develop the best simulated experience to meet specific goals and requirements.
We look forward to speaking with you and determining your institution's goals to improve the patient experience and health outcomes.
